Section 2:
Operation of Sun Dial II
You may use any telephone to access Sun Dial II by calling the number given to you when you signed up. At sign up, you provided the phone number
from which you usually call. That phone number is programmed into Sun Dial II so that it will recognize you when you
call. It will greet you by name, and it will adapt to your personal preferences. If you choose to call using a different
phone from the one on file, punch in your registered phone number when asked so that Sun Dial II will recognize you.
If you permanently change the phone you plan to use to call Sun Dial II, give us a call so we can reset your number in the system.

prepared. Some music will play to let you know something is happening. Sun Dial II will then begin reading your selection automatically.
Section 2.3
The Navigation Menu
Sun Dial II is entirely based on web pages. We will explain the ins and outs of web pages
in Section 3. For now though, know that all your menus and choices will be displayed as if on a printed page.
By moving around on this page and making selections, you get to whatever you want to hear. In this section we'll
discuss keypad navigation, in the next section we'll discuss voice commands.
Once you have logged into Sun Dial II by making an initial selection from the Main menu, the telephone keypad becomes a powerful
navigation tool, which enables you to move around the web pages freely. Instead of viewing the keys as mere numbers,
try to think of the keys as representing a direction you will move on the page. Keys one through nine make up a square, which you will use to navigate. The * and 0 are special function keys which are
described below. If you do not press a key, the system will proceed to read the entire web page to you from top to
bottom.
- Key number 1, at the top left of the keypad, will always take you to the top left of the page you are reading.
- Pressing 2, moves you up the page like an up arrow.
- Pressing 8, moves you down the page like a down arrow.
- To jump to the bottom right, or very end, of a web page document, press 9. When trying to find something, sometimes it is faster to go to the bottom and then move back up the page, rather than always starting from the top.
- Pressing 6, takes you to the right or forward and follows a link to a new web page. It's kind of like turning the pages of a
book.
- Pressing 4, takes you left or back to the previous web page. It's like turning the pages of a book
backward.
- Pressing 7, will jump down past page headers and other material to a block or paragraph of text.
- Pressing 5, which is the one with the dot on it in the middle of the keypad, stops the reading until you press another key. While the reading is paused, music will play so that you don't forget you are using Sun Dial II.
- If you want to save the page you are currently listening to for later retrieval, you can Book Mark
the page by pressing the 3 key.
- The 0 key is to get help. Pressing 0 will remind you of what each key does in
Sun Dial. When the help message is finished, you will be right where you
left off. You can interrupt the help message at any time by pressing another key.
- Pressing * takes you back to the main menu, or starting point, of Sun Dial II.
Remember, if you get lost, you can always return to the top left of the web page by pressing 1,
or, you can return to the Sun Dial II Main Menu by pressing *. From that point you can go anywhere in the
system.
Note: A complete keypad summary is provided at the back of this Users Guide. The commands are listed in both numerical order, and in command order for your reference.
Section 2.4

want.
- To go to the top left of the page say "top".
- To go to the bottom right, or end of a web page say "end". When trying to find something, sometimes it is faster to go to the bottom and then move back
up the page, rather than always starting from the top.

- To move down the page an item at a time say "down".
- To go back to a previous page say "go back".
