Birdies Keep Sun Sounds “On Par” To Continue Excellence In Information Access

(Tempe, AZ – April 9, 2007)

Sun Sounds of Arizona received more than $1,600 in pledges and matched contributions from the 2008 FBR Open Birdies for Charity program, sponsored by The Thunderbirds Charities. For the second year in a row friends of Sun Sounds of Arizona pledged at least a penny per birdie during the FBR Open, and this year’s contributions more than doubled what was raised last year.

“We owe a big thank you to our volunteers and listeners for participating in this fundraising event. Their donations were matched 10% by The Thunderbirds, and every dollar helps Sun Sounds of Arizona to make printed materials available for visually impaired people,” said Development Director David Noble.

Sun Sounds of Arizona is a leader in the field of information access, providing 24-hour, state-wide broadcasts of newspapers, magazines, short stories and books for individuals who are not able to read printed material due either to loss of vision or to loss of motor skills necessary to hold printed media. With the help of 500 volunteers, Sun Sounds of Arizona serves more than 49,000 listeners in Phoenix, Flagstaff, Tucson and Yuma.
